Julian Alvarez is off to an incredible start this season at Manchester City, sharing the goal-scoring burden of the Manchester club with his teammate Erling Haaland. The Argentine’s incredible form has raised queries about his current contract and wages at the Manchester club.
Julian Alvarez joined the club in January 2022; he was sent back on loan to River Plate for six months. He joined back in the summer of 2022. Alvarez signed a six-year contract with Manchester City that earns him around $122,000 per week. This amounts to $6.4 million per season.

In comparison, Erling Haaland joined Manchester City in the summer of 2022 from Dortmund. The Norwegian striker signed a five-year contract with Manchester City that earns him around $458,000 per week. This amounts to $24 million per season.
Erling Haaland earns around four times more than his teammate, Julian Alvarez as per their current contracts. However, it is to be noted that Halaand was a bigger prospect when he joined from Dortmund in 2022.

He returned the faith by scoring 52 goals and nine assists in 53 games in his debut season for the club. Meanwhile, Alvarez’s stock has risen since joining the Manchester club; he has scored 23 goals and 10 assists in 61 matches.

Alvarez’s form has been a blessing for Manchester City. The club has to cope with a major injury to Kevin de Bruyne. Erling Haaland’s numbers have suffered as compared to last year due to the injury to Kevin de Bruyne; however, Alvarez has set up for the task with key goal contributions in all competitions.
The healthy competition between the strikers is good news for Pep Guardiola and City fans, who are looking to challenge for multiple trophies once again. They are currently top of the Premier League by a point, with Arsenal and Tottenham chasing them in the table.
Manchester City would be hoping that both of their strikers are in top form in the upcoming weekend. They travel to London to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. The Manchester side will be without key fielders like Kevin de Bruyne, who is still injured, and Rodri, who is suspended due to a red card.
