Lionel Messi has finally won the World Cup and according to a lot of people, it has settled the ‘GOAT’ debate. Post-World Cup celebrations from Argentine players, especially one particular from the star man himself have gone viral.

Lionel Messi played his second World Cup final in 8 years on Sunday and finally managed to conquer it. The match events were wild. According to a lot of soccer fans, it wasn’t only the best final of a World Cup; it was the best World Cup match ever.

Argentina started the match with a lot of hunger and desire to go at France. It paid them off dearly as well. The two veterans of the Albiceleste scored one each for a comfortable lead in the first half. They started the second half in the same fashion and France looked lethargic and tired. Kylian Mbappe’s individual brilliance took the match to extra time. Emiliano Martinez’s heroics won Argentina the World Cup after the penalty shootout.

Argentina waited 36 long years for this moment since Maradona won the World Cup in 1986. Argentine fans and players celebrated the win like anything. The whole country welcomed the Champions after they added another star to their shirt.

Lionel Messi slept with the World Cup, and fans are having a field day

The scenes were wild when the World Champions landed at the Buenos Aires airport at the local time of 3 am. Lionel Messi came first out of the team plane with the World Cup trophy in his arms. Coach Lionel Scaloni and the other members of the team came out with their winner’s gold medals hanging from their necks.

Lionel Messi’s Instagram post about winning the World Cup became the highest-liked post in the platform’s history. His today post however brought out the most reactions from the fans. The 35-year-old great man posed sleeping with the World Cup trophy in his bed. It was the only trophy that was missing from his unbelievable trophy cabinet and now that he has won it he cannot have enough of it.

Fans were happy seeing their idol happy and reacted very joyfully to the wholesome post. They also didn’t forget to mock Salt Bae. The celebrity chef got absolutely battered by the fans for touching the World Cup trophy and almost forcing Messi to take a photo for his socials.

The PSG forward is not the first man to pose with a trophy in bed. Sadio Mane posed with the AFCON trophy in his bed. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski also posted a picture with the same in 2020, when he won the Champions League with Bayern Munich.
