The Jon Jones-Ciryl Gane bout is all the sporting world has been able to talk about in the last few days. Bones announced his return in stunning fashion and won the UFC heavyweight title. Despite being absent from the octagon for three years, Jones managed to win the bout with a first-round choke submission.
Jones took Gane to the floor and went for a guillotine choke to wrap up UFC 285’s main event. It was a major surprise to the world, as Bones was only a legend in the lightweight division, but managed to win millions of hearts after his performance in Las Vegas.
His opponent, Ciryl Gane even said after the fight, “I’m disappointed, of course. The biggest feeling is really angry about myself. Really angry because, yes we accepted this fight. It was not a short notice, but the time was not too longer.”

Gane was unhappy about the loss to Jones, but there might be something else on the cards that could prove to be effective for the French fighter for his next fight. According to multiple reports, PSG and MMA legend Khabib Nurmagamedov will be collaborating to create a new MMA team. It will be called ‘PSG MMA’ and Khabib is expected to play a pivotal role in the development of the team.
Khabib Nurmagomedov invited Ciryl Gane to train in Dagestan
Gane fought heavyweight superstar Francis Ngannou back in January 2022. The Predator became the undisputed heavyweight champion back then after a win through a decision. After the bout, Khabib had a few words for Gane. He said, “Ciryl Gane come to Dagestan brother. You have to come to Dagestan, stay there one and a half, two years, learn about wrestling.”
Khabib emphasized the fact that Ngannou brought out Cyril’s weakness during their fight. This led the Russian to further mention that France and Dagestan were on different levels when it came to wrestling.
It is no secret Khabib is one of the greatest athletes of all time, especially in combat sports as he remains one of the very few with an undefeated record. To achieve this level, Khabib’s training regime from a young age, in Dagestan, was extreme but effective.
“We have a lot of heavyweights who can wrestle with him. He [has] to learn wrestling and after a few years he can be champion,” Khabib added. After losing to Jones, Gane might just be open to accepting Khabib’s invite. It might just be easier for him now that the PSG MMA team will be set up.
He wouldn’t have to travel all the way to Dagestan to learn from Khabib. After all, he is one of the best grapplers of all time and one might even say that he could guide Gane to a title.
