If Argentina wins the World Cup, the Messi vs Ronaldo debate would be over.

Recently, FIFA fever seems to have caught up with KSI as he has taken to Twitter to declare that the “GOAT debate” between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will “come to an end”, should the Argentine go all the way in this World Cup. With Portugal out of the picture, it seems like a high possibility that La Albiceleste may very well lift their first World Cup trophy since 1986.
KSI believes Lionel Messi ends GOAT debate if Argentina wins the World Cup
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been pitted against each other since day 1.
The debate started to take shape when both of these legendary soccer players were just teenagers. Back then, the debate centered around the question of determining the better player.

Neymar has showboating
Haaland has strength
Vinicius Jr has dribbling

However, as the careers of these prolific personalities started to take shape, the debate quickly transitioned into the question of determining the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) out of these two players.
While KSI is a firm advocate of ending the GOAT debate if the World Cup concludes in an Argentine triumph, here’s what the stats have to say about the matter.
Cristiano Ronaldo has won five Ballons d’Or as compared to Lionel Messi’s seven. Ronaldo, however, has scored more goals than Messi, albeit compromising on assists. Ronaldo has over 800 goals for club and country, along with 234 assists. Messi, on the other hand, has 791 goals for club and country, along with 350 assists.

A basic analysis of the statistics points toward Messi and Ronaldo almost being head-to-head. Messi is better in some respects like passing, assisting, dribbling, club statistics, etc. Meanwhile, Ronaldo is hailed as “Mr. Champions League” and is better at scoring goals at the highest levels. Ronaldo is also ahead in terms of International Goals.
Both players have their merits and demerits, which is why they have such a massive fan following.

That said, Messi is younger than Ronaldo, indicating that if he is to play as much soccer as Ronaldo has, then he is very likely to go past the Portuguese.
It seems as though fans will forever be divided on the question. However, many share perspectives with KSI.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal is out of World Cup and Lionel Messi’s Argentina defeated Croatia yesterday to advance to the final. There, they will face the winner of today’s game between France and Morocco.

If Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina is to avoid a repeat of 2014 and lift the World Cup this year, Lionel Messi will have had a huge part to play, and as a result, may very well settle the debate in the minds of most soccer fans.
