It appears as if Kylian Mbappe has been reminiscing about his time with Lionel Messi at PSG. It has been almost a year since Messi left PSG and signed with Inter Miami. Messi endured a tough time at PSG and was often subjected to brutal treatment from the French fans. However, Mbappe recently opened up about how he misses the Argentine and also how they once perfectly executed a goal in a match after visualizing it in training.
Back in 2022, PSG humbled LOSC Lille 7-1 in a rather one-sided Ligue 1 clash. While Kylian Mbappe scored a hat trick, Messi scored a single goal and Neymar Jr. bagged a brace. PSG defender Achraf Hakimi also managed to get his name up on the screenshot. Although Mbappe’s hat trick grabbed the headlines, the best moment of the match was the French star’s opening goal in the first few seconds of the match.
With PSG kicking off the match, the French giants managed to get the ball at Messi’s feet with just three touches. The Argentine played an immaculate pass over the helpless Lille defenders and the ball landed in front of the racing Mbappe. Mbappe, of course, made no mistake and lobbed the ball into the goal within the first ten seconds of the match.
🚨🗣️Kylian Mbappe:
“Messi, Neymar and I rehearsed the goal vs Lille the day before the match. Galtier and his assistant asked us to repeat it two or three times in training but we told him: ‘We understood it. Don’t worry, we will do it tomorrow.’ And on the matchday we did it” pic.twitter.com/COJan83AYc

Reflecting on that goal, Mbappe said, “Messi, Neymar, and I rehearsed the goal vs Lille the day before the match.” He revealed that the then-PSG coach Christophe Galtier and his assistants asked them to rehearse the pass. However, the PSG forwards assured the coach that they didn’t need any further practice. Ultimately, their words proved to be right all along with Mbappe scoring the fastest goal in Ligue 1 history the next day.
Kylian Mbappe misses playing with Lionel Messi at PSG
Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe has been feeling Lionel Messi’s absence on the pitch since the latter left France for the United States. Mbappe and Messi often enjoyed a telepathic understanding on the pitch which resulted in a flurry of goals for the Paris-based club. However, since Messi’s departure, Mbappe has admitted that he misses the luxury of playing with the former FC Barcelona skipper.

“Playing with Leo Messi is definitely something I miss a lot (laughs 😂). He was able to find me wherever on the pitch and serve me in the best conditions. It is a luxury that only he can give you. He’s the best at it” pic.twitter.com/9Nke5BJljU

In an interview with Prime Video Sport France, Mbappe said, “Playing with Leo Messi is definitely something I miss a lot. It is a luxury that only he can give you. He’s the best at it.” In the two years that they played together at PSG, Messi and Mbappe combined to register 34 goal contributions. Nevertheless, for now, Mbappe has to rely on his current teammates or on himself to score goals with Lionel Messi out of the picture.
