The link-up took the internet by storm, as fans loved to see the two soccer greats in the same frame. The two greeted each other very pleasantly and shared a few laughs during their short yet lively conversation. Kylian Mbappe and R9 were attending the Basketball match between NBA teams Cleaveland Cavaliers and Brooklyn Nets.
While the meeting was special on its own, it was Kylian’s online reaction to it that was noteworthy. The FIFA World Cup 2022 Golden Boot winner essentially called R9 ‘a Brazilian King’ through his Instagram story. Kylian Mbappe reacted to a reel posted by NBA’s IG handle, where he put up the ‘crown’ and a Brazilian flag emoji, to convey his admiration for Ronaldo Nazario.
Kylian Mbappe on that eventful night also met the former Manchester United player and legend David Beckham. The French captain was accompanied by his PSG teammates Marco Asensio and Ethan Mbappe, his younger sibling.

The Frenchman’s attendance at the NBA event in Paris isn’t the first that he’s been to an NBA game. Kylian Mbappe is one of the biggest basketball fans among soccer players and has been spotted courtside multiple times.
The PSG star as revealed by Goal, supports the Los Angeles Lakers, due to his friendship with LeBron James. Many Basketball players have befriended the Frenchman, and have even participated in some internet banters with him.

Famous Basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo once had a hilarious reaction to the reports of the world record bid from Saudi team Al-Hilal of $332 million for the Frenchman in the summer of 2023. Giannis, obviously got a little too excited by the money and tweeted “Al Hilal you can take me. I look like Kylian Mbappe ššš.” This hilarious tweet would surely go down in the Internet Hall of Fame.
Kylian Mbappe on the soccer pitch has been incredible in the first half of the 23/24 season. The Frenchman has scored 25 goals in his first 25 matches in the season.
