Lionel Messi has been at the top of the soccer pyramid for over a decade with his performances. But he has always been criticized for his work rate during games. And now it looks like another critic has emerged recently who has made a brutal statement toward Messi.
In a rather surprising set of events, the President of the Saudi club Al-Tai has made a bold statement about the Argentine. He was asked about signing Messi but he stated that he doesn’t want him in his team. He further stated that the World Cup winner turns into a spectator during big games.
Al-Tai President Turki Al-Dabaan said: “I do not want to sign a world-class player in my team who is saturated and watches the match from the stadium like Messi in front of Bayern Munich”

Messi was subjected to massive criticism after his performance against Bayern Munich. His team PSG crashed out of the RO16 as PSG was missing Neymar Jr. while Kylian Mbappe and Messi failed to make a mark.
The loss resulted in another upsetting UCL season for PSG who dream of conquering Europe one day. They signed superstars like Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe but it looks like the French Champions are far from where they wish to be.
Is Lionel Messi joining Al-Tai after PSG?
Lionel Messi’s future has been a huge question mark ever since he came back after the World Cup in Qatar. The 7-time Ballon d’Or winner has significantly delayed the contract renewal talks with PSG.
This has led to speculation regarding his next club and he has been rumored to move to Saudi Arabia. Al-Hilal was rumored to be interested in Messi but it seems like other Saudi clubs like Al-Tai are not impressed by the star.

Turki Al-Dabaan’s recent statement has aborted every speculation of Messi moving to Al-Tai. But other clubs such as Inter Miami have also communicated their interest to the player and are willing to sign him and bring him to the United States.
Messi has also been rumored with a spectacular homecoming to FC Barcelona. The Catalonian club is reported to be working on managing their finances to re-sign him. They had to let him go to Paris in 2021 due to La Liga’s financial regulations.
Every club in the world would be interested in signing a star of the stature of Messi. But it has been made clear that the Saudi Arabian club, Al-Tai, isn’t one such club. It will be interesting to see where Messi ends up next season after the drama around his contract ends.
