Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was asked about his thoughts on the failure to secure their summer targets Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in a press conference that was held ahead of their match against Bournemouth this weekend.
While speaking in the press conference, Klopp was asked about the reason behind the collapse of the deal. The manager replied, “I’ve nothing to say about that, absolutely nothing to say. The transfer business is that you talk to people, clubs, agents, players and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Nothing else to say from my point of view.”

Moises Caicedo came close to joining Liverpool after his former club Brighton accepted the Red’s lucrative bid for the player. However, Caicedo decided to snub Liverpool to join Chelsea. Moreover, the London-based club also beat the Reds on signing Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
Furthermore, in the conference, Klopp confirmed that there would not be any more outgoing players during this transfer window. He added, “The window is still open and until then pretty much everything can happen. On the outgoing side, nothing will happen. Incoming, there is still time so let’s have a look.”
Important players like Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita departed from the club this summer.
Liverpool signs Wataru Endo after Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia turn them down
The Merseyside club signed Japanese international Wataru Endo from Bundesliga club Stuttgart. The player reportedly signed a four-year deal with the Reds for around $20.6 million.
Endo is expected to play in the defensive midfield position. However, the Japanese international can also shine in the center-back position.
Liverpool manager Klopp shared his joy about signing the veteran Bundesliga player at the press conference. He shared, “I’m really happy we can announce the agreement with the club and the player. That’s really cool. I’m absolutely happy. I am from Germany, watch lots of Bundesliga, known him since Stuttgart, and liked him pretty much from the start. A late bloomer.”

The manager continued to hail praises for his new signing, “He is a really good footballer, 5ft 10 but jumps through the ceiling, really good in the air and generally defense. Tactically really smart. Good footballer, a big heart, desire.”
Wataru Endo is Liverpool’s third signing this summer after the departure of the squad veterans. The Reds secured the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai earlier this summer transfer window. The manager would be hoping that the new signings would be enough to help them qualify for European soccer next season.
