Mason Greenwood has been in the headlines for the past year or so. The Manchester United youngster was accused of sexually abusing his girlfriend Harriet Robson in 2022. There were several videos and images of the UK-based model circling the internet which showed what Mason was accused of doing. This led the police to intervene and arrest Greenwood right after. The Crown Prosecution Service released a statement afterward and mentioned that the evidence against Mason would be under review.

It has been a while since Mason put on the Man Utd shirt. The last game he played was against West Ham in January 2022. The investigation was ongoing until February 2023, when it was officially announced that all the charges against Greenwood have been dropped.
When will Mason Greenwood return to the Manchester United first team?
Greenwood has not played under new manager Erik ten Hag. The team has had quite the makeover since his last appearance. ten Hag installed a resilient mentality at Old Trafford and brought in the players who translate that on the pitch as well. Recently, reports of Mason’s return emerged. Many claim that he could not play for the club this season.

When the CPS announced that the charges were dropped, Man Utd released a statement as well. It said, “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.”
It is not known how long the investigation process will continue. Many believe that it could go on until the end of the ongoing season. If that turns out to be the case, Greenwood will not be able to play for United this season. ten Hag had his say on the matter and claimed that he will not be able to comment on Mason’s situation.
With that said, it would be safe to claim that it does not look good for the player. Fans have expressed their dissent and claimed that he should never play for the club again. Whatever the case, only time will tell how this plays out for Greenwood, Manchester United, and its fans.
