The Mason Greenwood saga takes another turn. It hasn’t even been a week since all the charges were dropped against the 22-year-old English. There has been a lot of activity from all sides involved and naturally, Greenwood has been the talk of the town. This time, however, Mason’s activity has left the soccer fans, Manchester United fans to be exact, flabbergasted.
Mason Greenwood was involved in a very sensitive scandal last year. The young soccer player was accused of physical torturing, alleged rape, and controlling coercive behavior on his partner Harriet Robson. A video of Harriet bleeding from the nose alongside some voice recordings, which were claimed to be Mason’s went viral in moments. Fans were outraged and the Manchester United forward was arrested almost immediately.
A lack of concrete evidence against the alleged earned him an early bail. However, there were certain stern instructions given by the court. The court strictly asked Mason not to contact the alleged victim in the case. But he didn’t abide by the orders. Reportedly, Mason contacted Harriet on multiple occasions and the police didn’t do anything despite knowing everything. As soon as this news came to light, the fans reacted disgustingly to it.

A few days ago, Crown Prosecution declared that the main cooperator in the case withdrew their help. And thus, under questionable circumstances charges were dropped against Mason. The news left the fans wondering if this means Greenwood’s comeback to professional soccer. A large part of the fanbase is still very much unsure about that decision.

Mason Greenwood was arrested last year on January 22. Soon after Nike broke their brand deal with him and announced that they do not want to be associated with an individual, who is alleged to commit such a crime. Manchester United also suspended the young forward indefinitely.
Since the charges have been dropped and the legal system won’t be pursuing Greenwood anymore the club has released its stance on the situation. The club has launched an internal investigation under club CEO Richard Arnold’s leadership. Until then Greenwood is not allowed to be back to the club.
Mason Greenwood’s Instagram account so far was blank and all the photos were kept archived. He lost a significant number of followers. Very recently Mason has made 9 of his pictures public and all of them are involving Manchester United. Despite a contract termination, Greenwood has tagged Nike in his bio alongside Manchester United.

This recent activity of Mason Greenwood has left the fans torn. A lot of them think that Mason is using the club’s name to gain fans’ sympathy and he doesn’t deserve to be at the club. Whereas, a set of fans are willing to let Greenwood come back. This is a question of humanitarian but every soccer fan has a very close bond of love and affection to their club.
