Mbappe came on in the second half of the first leg and made an instant impact. He was instrumental in rallying PSG forward. Bayern’s high-line defense had real difficulties facing the French striker. He even put the ball in the back of the net twice, however, neither was counted due to a VAR intervention.
Lionel Messi believes PSG has what it takes to beat Bayern Munich
Messi has encouraged his team to beat Bayern Munich and go one step ahead in their quest to win the coveted UEFA Champions League.
“It’s going to be a very difficult game which will be decided by small details. Winning at this stadium is very tough. But I think we’re well prepared and capable of turning the situation around. We’ll go to Munich with this intention,” Messi told PSG TV.
Former PSG player Kingsley Coman got the only goal of the game. He scored with a first-time finish from an Alphonso Davies cross. Bayern won the match 0-1.
Messi and Mbappe were both on the scoresheet in PSG’s last game. The French champions defeated Nantes 4-2 with Messi scoring the first goal of the game and Mbappe scoring the last. Both the stars are in scintillating form and ready to roar against Bayern Munich. However, they will be missing their third partner-in-crime Neymar. The Brazilian suffered a horrific injury in a match against LOSC Lille on 19 February and has been out since.
PSG was ousted at this stage in the previous season of the tournament. The French club defeated Real Madrid at home 1-0 in the first leg. However, the Parisians lost 3-1 in the second leg to be defeated 4-3 on aggregate.
