Why do some of the big clubs withdraw themselves from the Super League?
The idea of a Super League in soccer spurned into life in early 2021. The basic agenda behind it was to facilitate some of the big European clubs to face each other more of the time. The competition was supposed to run side by side with the UEFA Champions League and other national leagues.
Initially, there were 12 clubs reported to be backing this idea. However, as soon as the news started to come out in the media, the proposal faced severe backlash from the fan bases, and UEFA itself. UEFA took the matter seriously and announced its intention of an investigative probe in regards to omitting the clubs behind the entire concept.
FIFA also joined in and depicted probable punitive actions toward the clubs and an embargo on any star players who would lend their services in the upcoming Super League. After the surfacing of this entire backlash, nine out of the 12 teams made their intention to withdraw themselves from the speculated Super League clear.
