- While, the match was uneventful, Real Madrid won the match by scoring a goal at tghe 48th minute.
La Liga leaders Real Madrid have taken a commanding leap in the title race after their recent league fixture against Mallorca. The race for the 2023-24 La Liga title has been a gripping one with defending champions FC Barcelona closely pursuing Real Madrid. However, with just seven games remaining, Real Madrid have firmly set their sights on the title.
Spanish giants Real Madrid took on Mallorca at their home earlier today. In what was a rather uneventful match, Aurelien Tchouameni’s 48th-minute screamer was enough to seal the victory for Real Madrid. After Real Madrid’s 3-3 Champions League quarterfinal first-leg draw against Manchester City, coach Carlo Ancelotti mixed things up with his lineup.

The likes of Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, and Toni Kroos were on the bench while Ancelotti handed veteran midfielder Luka Modric a rare start. Despite Mallorca currently placed 15th in the league, Javier Aguirre’s team proved to be a tough nut to crack with Madrid struggling to break the deadlock. Interestingly, the first clear chance fell to Mallorca as Real Madrid keeper Andriy Lunin was forced to make a save.
Real Madrid started the second half in a much better way as they took just three minutes to score. Tchouameni’s belter of a strike from almost 40 yards out rocketed inside the net as Mallorca goalkeeper Predrag Rajković failed to even move a muscle. Mallorca did have an excellent chance to equalize in the dying minutes of the game but Vedat Muriqi dragged his shot wide in front of the gaping goal.
Real Madrid extend their lead over FC Barcelona as La Liga title race heats up
Soccer fans are in for a treat as La Liga‘s title race enters into its business end. Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid got the job done earlier today after a hard-fought 1-0 win against Mallorca. Later tonight, Xavi Hernandez‘s FC Barcelona will take on Cadiz at their home and nothing but a victory would be a huge blow to the Catalan club’s title ambitions.

With just seven games remaining this season, it’s highly unlikely that either FC Barcelona or Real Madrid would slip up in the title race. Currently, Xavi’s men are ten points behind Real Madrid with a game in hand. Therefore, FC Barcelona must win all of their remaining games, including the one against Los Blancos later this month, and hope that their bitter rivals give away some points, to defend their La Liga title.
Real Madrid get a huge boost ahead of their UCL tie against Manchester City
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have received a huge boost ahead of their upcoming Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Manchester City. After an enthralling 3-3 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu last week, Madrid would travel to the Etihad Stadium for the return leg. However, unlike the first leg, the Spanish giants will have defender Eder Militao available for the return fixture.
Militao, who has been sidelined with an ACL injury since August last year, finally returned to action against Mallorca. The Brazilian defender’s return would be a great relief for Carlo Ancelotti who won’t have Aurelien Tchouameni available for the return leg due to suspension. The veteran coach has signaled that both Militao and Nacho Fernandez could be an option to replace the suspended Frenchman.
