Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe, famously known as Salt Bae, has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons. He was seen invading Argentina’s FIFA World Cup 2022 victory celebrations. The chef made many of the Argentinian soccer players click pictures with him even though most looked unwilling to do so. He also handled the World Cup trophy, breaking FIFA protocols.
In a resurfaced video, Salt Bae is seen with Kylian Mbappe. The French soccer player, who starred in the World Cup final with a hat trick, had gone to the Turkish chef’s restaurant in Greece. In the video, Gökçe is seen kissing Mbappe, and fans believe Mbappe was made uncomfortable in that situation.

The video has been compared with how he made a lot of the Argentinian players uncomfortable by joining in the celebrations. He had hounded Lionel Messi, who was clearly uninterested but still managed to get a picture with him.
Fans were furious with Salt Bae kissing Kylian Mbappe
Back in July 2021, Paris Saint-Germain star, Mbappe visited the chef’s Nusr-Et Steakhouse in Mykonos, Greece. He sat with the chef and enjoyed a meal. In the resurfaced video on Salt Bae’s Instagram, Mbappe can be heard saying: “It was a good night. A pleasure to come with my man.”
Salt Bae replied to that: “Always.”
The pair shook hands and the PSG player winked at the camera. Following this, the chef kissed the soccer player on the cheek. The chef’s followers have started to comment again on that video as it has resurfaced.

One person said: “Mbappe looked uncomfortable af in this video.”
Another added: “These kisses don’t look too good?”
A third commented: “I personally wouldn’t let that slide.”
Fans are furious with how the Turkish chef treated Mbappe as he was put into an uncomfortable position in that awkward footage.
Salt Bae got into trouble for harassing Lionel Messi
Messi’s performance in the World Cup was the talk of the town and videos of him celebrating the World Cup win were going viral. However, another clip surfaced online where the soccer legend was seen ignoring chef Salt Bae after he asked him for a picture.
The 7 times Ballon d’Or winner was harassed by the chef. Salt Bae repeatedly tried to pull Messi towards himself. The chef was asking for a picture and Messi could be seen ignoring him.

Fans were not amused by Salt Bae’s pestering. One of them wrote, “Salt Bae harassing the GOAT for clout at the most important moment in his life, Look at Messi’s face”. Another user said “Everything about this Salt Bae’s Instagram is cringy as hell but the videos he has posted from the pitch are just awful. He basically is trying to wrestle the trophy away from Lisandro Martinez in one of them”.
A FIFA statement was released after it was found out that Salt Bae broke FIFA rules by touching the World Cup trophy: “Following a review, FIFA has been establishing how individuals gained undue access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail stadium on 18 December. The appropriate internal action will be taken.”
