SUMMARY
- Kaka married his long time girlfriend Caroline Celico in 2005.
- The couple were together for a decade, and in 2015 they went their separate ways.
While most humans strive to achieve perfection their whole lives, for Kaka, it has turned out to be a bane. One of the best players of his time and in soccer history, there might never be another player like Kaka. A serial winner on the pitch, Kaka has won everything there is to win in soccer. However, it turns out that being a “perfectionist” did him more harm than good in his personal life.
In his career, Kaka has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world like Real Madrid and AC Milan. He lifted the Champions League trophy once and also won league titles in Spain and Italy among other trophies. At an international level, Kaka’s career was as prolific as ever. He won the FIFA World Cup in 2002 and the Confederations Cup twice.
At an individual level, Kaka’s trophy cabinet will put most soccer stars to shame. He won the Ballon d’Or back in 2007, sharing the stage with a young Cristiano Ronaldo and an even younger Lionel Messi. He has also won the FIFA World Player of the Year and the FIFPro World Player of the Year. In his final few years as a soccer player, the Brazilian played for Orlando City in the MLS and returned to his boyhood club, Sao Paulo.
At a personal level, Kaka has always been a devout Catholic and has never shied away from openly displaying his faith. He has previously admitted that he used to wear a shirt that reads “I belong to Jesus” beneath his jersey before every important game. He married his long-term girlfriend Caroline Celico in 2005 before parting ways in 2015. The couple are parents to two children, a son and a daughter.
Kaka’s former wife reveals bizarre reason behind their divorce
Over the years, we have seen several soccer stars, or high-profile celebrities in general, divorcing with their partners. One of the most recent examples is former FC Barcelona star Gerard Pique’s split with girlfriend Shakira a couple of years ago. While the reason behind Shakira leaving Pique is because the latter cheated on her, Caroline Celico’s reason for leaving Kaka is as bizarre as it gets.
Caroline married the former Real Madrid star back in 2005 after being together for a long time. After her marriage, Caroline also became an Evangelical pastor at Kaka’s church before quitting five years before her divorce. In 2015, Caroline and Kaka announced that they had decided to part ways after ten years of marriage. However, Caroline recently came clean on her reasons behind deciding to leave the ex-Brazil international.
🚨🇧🇷- Kaka’s ex wife Caroline Celico revealed the reason she divorced him was because he was ‘TOO PERFECT’ of a husband.
“Kaka never betrayed me, he treated me well, he gave me a wonderful family, but I was not happy, something was missing. The problem was, he was too perfect… pic.twitter.com/iEY0YhzeQH

Caroline admitted that her reason for separating was not because she had been treated poorly or had been betrayed. She said, “I was not happy, something was missing. The problem was, he was too perfect for me.” While Caroline’s explanation might get a bit too hard to digest, it’s only right that we respect her decision. After her split, she married Eduardo Scarpa Julião in 2021 and launched the charity Horizontal Love which provides basic amenities to Brazilian NGOs.
A look at Kaka’s current relationship status
Two years after his divorce from Caroline Celico, Kaka announced that he was dating the Brazilian model Carolina Dias. The 2002 World Cup winner chose a classy way to announce his relationship and revealed that he is dating Dias in the New Year.
He shared a picture of himself and Carolina sitting atop a mountain on a lake on his Instagram. In January 2019, the former AC Milan star got engaged to Dias and the couple tied the knot in 2022. Last year, Kaka announced that he was going to become a father for the third time. The couple became parents to their daughter, Sarah, who was born on February 13th.
