It seems like Manchester United has taken a rebirth under Erik ten Haag. Ever since Erik ten Haag took charge of the club last year, United’s performances have constantly gotten better. Despite the humiliating 3-6 loss in the Manchester derby, and getting relegated to the Europa League, ten Haag has managed to turn around the club’s fortunes. United received further good news yesterday when Jaden Sancho finally made his return to the side.
Manchester United faced Nottingham Forest last night in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash. United convincingly won the tie 2-0 and 5-0 on aggregate and progressed to the finals. However, the most iconic moment last night was when Manchester United’s star-studded trio came on the pitch. Jaden Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial came on for Antony, Weghorst, and Garnacho in the 63rd minute.

United fans were overjoyed to see Sancho back on the pitch after being out for almost three months. The former Borussia Dortmund star was suffering from physical as well as mental issues. Sancho had last featured for Man United way back in October when his side faced Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. United coach Erik ten Haag was especially relieved to have his star forward back in the side.
As per The Guardian, ten Haag said, “He (Sancho) has really high standards, he has great capabilities to contribute to our team and the team is improving, we are playing more in the opponent’s half and his capabilities are coming more to the fore.” Erik ten Haag also highlighted that the fans’ reception of Sancho was going to be a key factor in building the player’s confidence.
Fans react as Manchester United trio pays tribute to the Avengers
Manchester United fans were elated as Sancho, Rashford and Martial came on as substitutes in last night’s game. Martial scored the second goal for United just minutes after coming on the pitch. Fans have compared United’s trio to the characters of the famous movie series, Avengers. These comparisons of Sancho, Rashford, and Martial with Ironman, Thor, and Captain America have gathered hilarious reactions from the fans.

It will be very important for Manchester United to have all of their star players fit as they reach the business end of the season. United is currently fourth in the Premier League with 39 points. Third-placed Newcastle United also has 39 points but is ahead of United due to their superior goal difference. Manchester United will soon face Newcastle in the final of the Carabao Cup, which will be played at the iconic Wembley Stadium.
Can Manchester United win their first silverware since 2017?
Manchester United will be eyeing to finally end their trophy drought as they qualified last night for the Carabao Cup final. The club has gone trophyless for the past six years. Jose Mourinho was the last United manager to win a trophy when he guided the Premier League side to the Europa League title back in 2017. However, Erik ten Haag looks determined to win his first title with the club this month.

The Carabao Cup final between Manchester United and Newcastle United will be played on February 26 at Wembley Stadium. Despite being considered to be a Mickey Mouse trophy, both sides will be aiming to win it. The last time Newcastle United played in a final was way back in 1999 in the FA Cup final. Ironically, Newcastle lost 2-0 to Manchester United in the 1999 FA Cup final.
