For years this meme has been at the center of debate between Arsenal supporters and the supporters of other clubs, who like to bust on Arsenal supporters using this meme.
The Arsenal fanbase claims that the meme is purely a work of fiction. So what is the truth about the infamous “David Dicks”?
David Dicks didn’t play for Arsenal in the 90s because he didn’t exist
Work of fiction or not, one can’t disagree with the fact the meme is surely a funny one. It’s sure to crack anyone up.
However, it’s probably not true and appears to be fiction after all.
Firstly, there is no record of a player with the same name playing for Arsenal Football Club at any point.
The image that has been circulated in the meme is of former Arsenal player Liam Brady.
Then. Now. Always.

Secondly, upon a simple google search of famous personalities sharing the same name as the one used as a joke in the meme, one would certainly come across one David Dicks. But, this David is not the same as the one in the meme. David Dicks that appears on Google is an Australian man who became the youngest man to sail non-stop and solo across the world.

It seems there was a player called John Dicks among the ranks of Arsenal. However, he played for the club even before the year 1900, making him 100 years old than what is claimed in the meme.
