SUMMARY
- Bayern Munich break a 12-year-old loss record with Bayer Leverkusen
- Thomas Tuchel might exit from the club, Bayern Munich.
Thomas Tuchel must have joined FC Bayern Munich with great hopes and aspirations. The German manager had inherited a star-studded lineup at Bayern, intending to achieve both domestic and continental success.
The addition of a prolific striker of Harry Kane’s stature ahead of the 23/24 season looked like the final piece in the puzzle. The Bavarian club already had a range of defenders, full-backs, and midfielders on their wage bills, so Bayern’s title prospects looked pretty bright for the season.

However, the exact opposite has happened, with FC Bayern Munich having one of the worst seasons in their history. The 32-time German champions are on the verge of ending their historic title reign, with Thomas Tuchel’s future still in the air.
Bayern’s record title-winning streak is in great jeopardy
FC Bayern Munich has exacted great dominance over the Bundesliga in the last decade. The Bavarian club has won the league title in every season since 2011/12, winning 11 Bundesligas in the meantime. This winning streak is unprecedented in the history of the German league and is also the longest active streak by any team in Europe.
However, FC Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel have finally given up on its prized possession after 12 years. The 6-time UEFA Champions League winners have had a catastrophic 23/24 season, with Bayern being 16 points off the Bundesliga’s runaway leader, Bayer Leverkusen.
The German club has been very leaky in their defense, conceding 36 goals at the end of matchday 28, which is just two less than their previous season’s tally of 38. Apart from their on-field performances, there have been reports of Thomas Tuchel losing the dressing room.

Players from the German giants look lost on the soccer pitch, with their faces sunk after an unprecedented number of defeats in the 23/24 season. The club has suffered more than five losses in a Bundesliga campaign for the first time since the 2011/12 season.
The loss to Heideheim on matchday 28 seems to be the final nail in the coffin of Bayern Munich’s title aspirations. The club has lost to a newly promoted side for the first time since 2000. Bayer Leverkusen is just one win away from clinching the Bundesliga title and thus ending Bayern Munich’s 12-year-old monopoly.
Thomas Tuchel’s future at FC Bayern Munich hangs in balance
The German manager has been the one who has received the most flak from the club’s supporters. However, much of the criticism is justified considering that he hasn’t been able to make much use of his star-studded lineup. Instead of encouraging his players to turn things around, Thomas Tuchel has instead fallen out with some of them.
The league title is definitely out of sight after the defeat to Heidenheim, and looking at FC Bayern Munich’s current form, winning the Champions League seems like a far-fetched dream. Hence, Thomas Tuchel might just be looking at a potential exit from the German club.
FC Bayern Munich’s board is a very ruthless one that is hell-bent on winning trophies. It has earned a notoriety for sacking managers when success isn’t delivered.

However, Thomas Tuchel won’t have the same fate, purely because of the fact that the former Chelsea manager has already announced his departure from the Bavarian club at the end of the 23/24 season. FC Bayern Munich’s board has also made it clear after the Heidenheim game that they aren’t firing Tuchel with immediate effect.
It seems that the Bavarians will have to bear through the disastrous campaign of Thomas Tuchel for a few more months. It is pretty sad to see the association of Tuchel-Bayern come to such a premature end. His tenure at FC Bayern Munich would surely raise some questions about Thomas Tuchel’s management skills, particularly his man-management.
