SUMMARY
- Bayern Munich previously announced that Thomas Tuchel would be leaving the club after the 23/24 season.
- Despite the recent success, it looks like Tuchel is sticking to his decision.
Thomas Tuchel’s adventures at FC Bayern Munich haven’t gone as planned. The squad members of the German club haven’t been able to resonate with the 50-year-old’s managing style, and there is growing dissatisfaction amongst the club’s board members around Tuchel.
Moreover, the club is on the verge of going trophyless in the 23/24 season, which adds salt to the injury. In dire times like this, FC Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel decided to part ways at the end of the current season in February 2024. And, there are reports that the former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is interested in the job.
🚨 What if FC Bayern asks you to stay beyond this summer after Nagelsmann signing new deal with Germany?

The club was also linked to various names for the managerial position. The frontrunner in this regard was Bayer Leverkusen’s manager, Xabi Alonso, who won the first Bundesliga title in the club’s history in the 23/24 season. However, the Spaniard has decided to stay at the German club for at least one more season. Next up, was Germany NT manager, Julian Nagelsmann who has since extended his contract with the team.
Hence, rumors of Thomas Tuchel continuing at the Bavarian club have resurfaced in recent times. Yet, it seems that the manager himself has completely moved on from the FC Bayern misadventure. On being asked whether he would like to stay at the club, Thomas Tuchel replied, “I’ve an agreement with the club to part ways in June, it has been communicated and it stands”.
Julian Nagelsmann signs a new contract with Germany NT
Amongst all the chaos surrounding Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel, the German FA (DFB) was pleased to announce that Julian Nagelsmann will be coaching Germany for two more years. The news of the contract extension was made public a few hours ago, which confirms that Julian will lead Germany into the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Julian Nagelsmann looked pretty elated after his contract extension was finalized. He said, “This is a decision of the heart. It is a great honor to be able to coach the national team and work with the best players in the country”. Reportedly he felt pretty motivated about his job after Germany defeated the Netherlands and France in two friendlies in March.

The 36-year-old now wants to deliver a successful Euro campaign before taking his team to North America to participate in the World Cup two years later. Julian’s contract extension with Germany quashes all rumors about him returning to manage FC Bayern Munich. The young manager has made it clear that, his full focus is on uplifting the national team.
Thomas Tuchel has had a disastrous time at FC Bayern Munich
Considering the German manager’s poor record at the Bavarian club, it is only justifiable that the fanbase is pretty apprehensive of Thomas Tuchel. His playing style hasn’t convinced the fans or the Bayern board, and the results on the pitch haven’t been encouraging at all.
Moreover, Thomas Tuchel has been presented with a plethora of world-class talents. In the summer of 2023, the Bavarian club prominently signed striker Harry Kane and defender Kim Min Jae, two of the best players in their positions. Along with that, Tuchel already has a star-studded lineup.
However, the investment prior to the season hasn’t given the required returns yet. In fact, the club has seen a steep decline in the 23/24 season which was his first full campaign, with FC Bayern Munich missing out on the Bundesliga title for the first time in over a decade.

Moreover, they have already lost the DFL Supercup final to RB Leipzig and have crashed out of the DFB Pokal. Their only saving grace for the season could be the UEFA Champions League where they face the mighty Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
Clearly, Thomas Tuchel’s time at FC Bayern Munich has been pretty underwhelming compared to his standards. It would be interesting to see how the 50-year-old bounces back from this setback.
