A 9-year-old Moroccan girl became viral after Portugal vs Morocco World Cup quarter-final game. She mocked Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo after he left the pitch in tears.
The soccer fans and pundits gave Morocco zero chances to qualify from the group. It is understandable as well because Morocco was in the same group as Belgium and Croatia. Belgium is the 2nd ranked team under FIFA. Croatia played in the final of the last World Cup in Russia.
Morocco, however, proved everyone wrong. They started with a goalless draw against Croatia. Then they beat Canada 2-1. The final shock of the group stages came as they thrashed away the mighty Belgians by 2-0.

Spain was the favorite for many to win the whole tournament, and they were Morocco’s next opponent. Morocco again came on top as the Spanish players failed to score one single penalty in the shootout against Bonou. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal also came short against the Atlas Lions through an En-Nseyri header. Only the defending World Champions were able to beat Morocco in the whole tournament in the semifinal clash.
A different Moroccan girl went viral for dissing Cristiano Ronaldo
The Moroccan girl controversy took place soon after Morocco beat the Portuguese team. GOAL published a video of a very young Moroccan girl mocking Cristiano Ronaldo. In the video, she said, “Portugal, the airport is that way. And where’s Ronaldo? He’s crying in his car. Poor Ronaldo” Those comments earned her a lot of internet harassment.
She is not the only Moroccan girl who hit the media headlines. Another little Moroccan girl video went viral on Reddit. In the video that little girl is consoling her father after the Atlas Lions lost the World Cup semifinal against the defending champions France
The most touching part of the video is she is consoling her crying father with a beautiful smile. She is very young and she might just think that they will be able to witness a scene like this sooner rather than later. But she doesn’t know that Morocco is the first African country to ever reach a World Cup semifinal. Realizing the fact that he might never see his proud country again on a stage as grand as this, her father broke into tears.
