The Mason Greenwood news has hit the media and the soccer fans like a train. And most of them can’t seem to make their minds up about the 21-year-old’s future prospects. It is more difficult for the Manchester United staff as they are split over the possibility of letting Mason come back to the club. And it’s safe to say that fans have reacted to that very news rather vigorously on social media.
On February 2, the Crown Prosecution dropped all charges against Mason Greenwood. And the wider fanbase was very surprised by that. The Crown Prosecution didn’t put out much information or explanation for the general public to make sense of the situation. They said “No longer a realistic prospect of conviction,” to continue the Greenwood case as the key witness decided to stop cooperating with the legal proceedings.

The club authorities have announced running an internal investigation under the inspection of club CEO Richard Arnold. The club’s decision is understandable. Because the young forward was alleged with serious convictions like attempted rape, controlling coercive behavior, and even physical assault on the same woman. However, as the charges are dropped now, people are talking about his possible return to professional soccer.
Just like the general public, the Manchester United staff are also split over the situation. Some of the staff don’t want to see Greenwood put on a United shirt again and pretend as if nothing happened. While another part of the staff thinks that Mason has suffered enough, and hasn’t been proven guilty. They want to see the talented youngster who joined the club at the age of seven back playing.
Fans react with disgust toward the club staff after latest Mason Greenwood developments
This is a unique situation and the club has got to listen to the fan opinion regarding this matter. Alongside this, it is a very big commercial decision as well. There is a massive fear of losing major club sponsorships. It is because the sponsors generally don’t want to be associated with an organization, that lets an individual work for them after such a serious allegation. But then again, nothing was proven against Mason.
Yesterday, The Guardian’s journalist Jamie Jackson first broke the news about the united staff being split over the situation. And as expected it brought mixed reactions from the fanbase. A set of fans want to see the young striker back on the pitch, who still has a contract till 2025. Whereas some fans are adamant about not letting him back as it would possibly ruin the club’s image.
Many fans reacted with disgust toward the club, one fan even said “We’re a rotten club man”

It’s the most obvious decision to make!! Protect your image for the club and terminate his contract!!

Ten hags opinion is the only one that matters

The above reactions say all we need to know is how the fans feel about the Greenwood situation. A lot of them want to wait till the internal investigation is over. Some are willing to go with whatever Erik ten Hag decides to do. However, a large part of the fans is disgusted to even think about Mason coming back to the club. So, it’s safe to say that fans are equally split like the Manchester United club staff about this situation at this moment.
