A budding rivalry seems to be growing in the soccer circuit of the United States of America. Several St. Louis City SC fans have taken offense recently as the Sporting Kansas City fans have been calling themselves the ‘Soccer Capital of America’.
Soccer seems to be taking center stage in the North American country as they prepare to host the World Cup in 2026. The country will be hosting the mega event together with Canada and Mexico.
A fan of St. Louis City SC seemed to be very irritated with Kansas City fans and was asking “what fresh hell is this?” as Kansas City has been doing promotions calling the club the ‘soccer capital of the country’.

The outraged fan said: “My question: what fresh hell is this? Kansas City? Did they think it clever to steal our legitimate soccer heritage and proclaim it as their own, since we were not in the league for so long?”
Another fan believed that the outrage was just an SKC fan trying to give importance to the rivalry which didn’t exist.
They wrote: “This post actually sounds like it was written by an SKC fan trying to get St. Louisan’s to care about this rivalry.”
Both St. Louis City SC and Sporting Kansas City play in the Western Conference of the American Major League Soccer. St. Louis City is the league leader currently on the table while SKC is at the bottom.
Why does Kansas City call itself the ‘Soccer Capital of America’?
Kansas City has been in news recently as their official tourism website calls the city the ‘Soccer Capital of America’. The soccer circuit has been growing rapidly in the city as the country is moving towards soccer till 2026.
