David de Gea has been the most talked about free agent in the new season. The former Manchester United goalkeeper is in transfer talks again with the Saudi Pro League as the winter transfer window approaches.
The Sun reported that David de Gea has turned down another big offer to join the Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. This time around, the Riyadh-based club offered a wage of $623,000 (£500,000) per week. The latest offer is evidence of a big intent from Al-Nassr to make David de Gea their next big addition.

David de Gea has been linked with Al-Nassr throughout the summer. Recent reports pointed out that even Cristiano Ronaldo proposed to the Spanish goalkeeper to join him in Saudi Arabia. However, de Gea declined the proposal.
The online response to this news has been negative towards the former Manchester United goalkeeper. Comments like “What is this guy still looking for? Lmao,” “Omo!!! What else does he want to prove in England? He would have gone there for the bag,” “Bro would rather be clubless than,” and “Only David de Gea knows what he wants to do at this point,” echoed the sentiments of the fans.

The Spanish goalkeeper is leaning towards staying in Europe due to his pop star wife. He married Edurne Almagro in July 2023. The newly-wed couple has been keen to settle in Spain after spending several years in Manchester. Moving away to Saudi Arabia doesn’t excite the Spanish keeper, even if the wages are lucrative.
Manchester United can bring David de Gea back in January
The other big factor that has been a roadblock for Al-Nassr is Manchester United. There have been many reports that link the Spanish goalkeeper back to the English club. Andre Onana is yet to settle in at Manchester United, which opens the door for David de Gea. Recently, reports for the return of the Spanish goalkeeper have gained pace due to Onana’s involvement in AFCONs (African Cup of Nations) in January 2024.
David de Gea left the stadium after 12 years at the English club. He joined Manchester United in 2011 from Atlético Madrid. During his stay, the Spanish goalie played 545 matches for the English club and kept 190 clean sheets. In his last season, he won the Golden Glove award for keeping the most clean sheets in the season.

The Spanish goalkeeper ran down his contract at the English club after Manchester United opted against the chance to offer a new contract to their long-term goalkeeper. To replace him, United went for the former Ajax goalkeeper, Onana, who played under Erik ten Hag at the Dutch club.
This saga between Manchester United and the Spanish goalkeeper has divided fans throughout the summer. Erik ten Hag and the Glazers have been under immense pressure since the start of the season and might be forced to bring back the Spanish goalkeeper in order to steady the ship at the back.
