The Spaniard has left the door open for Messi to return to his boyhood club if he so desires. He said, “Messi knows that Barcelona is his home and the doors are open, I said this many times”.

Messi has flirted with a return to Barcelona ever since he left. The rumors about the Argentine returning to the La Liga giants have never stopped. It is much like the time Cristiano Ronaldo was continuously rumored to make a return to Manchester United. The Portuguese eventually did. A couple of weeks ago it was being reported that Paris Saint-Germain and Messi are in talks to renew the player’s contract. Messi, who joined the French champions in 2021, is set to become a free agent in the summer of 2023. Unless he renews his contract in the French capital, he might be on the move for free.

“We are in discussions. I cannot hide that, I would love to have him involved in this project, that he can continue with us,” PSG’s football advisor Luis Campos told French broadcaster TF1.
“I would be delighted if he does so, but we are talking at the moment trying to achieve that goal, that Leo Messi remains with us.”
Of course, keeping a player like Messi at your club will be a priority for PSG. He was instrumental in PSG’s latest win against LOSC Lille. Messi scored a 95th-minute free-kick to win the match 4-3. He celebrated passionately with Kylian Mbappe and the whole team which shows that he might have the desire and hunger to continue at PSG. However, nothing is certain.
