FormerĀ Manchester UnitedĀ strikerĀ Zlatan IbrahimovicĀ has questionedĀ Erik ten Hagās treatment of high-profile players and is yet to be convinced he is the right man to lead the club. Zlatan is concerned that ten Hag is too inexperienced to handle the ābig starsā at Old Trafford.
In a recent talk with Piers-Morgan on Talk TV, Zlatan said, “Coming from Ajax to United as he did is a big difference, I have been in both clubs. You have a different kind of discipline.” Zlatan further added that Ajax is a talented club. They always nurture the best talents in the world. They donāt have big names. ten Hag has worked with young talents at Ajax and he was successful.

But coming to United, the same approach won’t help. United would always have bigger names. You can’t treat the senior players at United the way you treat young prodigees at Ajax.
Zlatan also touched upon the fact that ten Hag doesn’t have enough time to turn around the situation. It depends on the Glazer brothers. But fans won’t be happy with his approach because fans always want to see results. They will judge ten Hag based on the next few match’s results. If ten Hag is unable to bring Manchester United back on track, a sacking could be around the corner.
Since taking over at Old Trafford, the Dutch coach has tried to instill a more disciplined culture, releasing Cristiano Ronaldo after he publicly criticized the club and isolating Jadon Sancho after the winger claimed he was being made a ‘scapegoat’ by his manager – and then refused to apologize.

He added that every player is clear with their role and what the situation demands. They need to find a way to channel all their motivation and push their limits. In order to do that they need a proper sporting project. They have to be clear about what they follow and decide accordingly.
Zlatan had a final dig at ten Hag, saying that he is living in ‘two different situations’. He needs to develop a clear mindset about the managerial tactics and strictly adhere to them.
