In his recent interview with Pierce Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo spared no one as the Portugal captain berated the club and its managing staff but also responded to the pundits and his ex-teammates like Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney, who have been very vocal in criticizing Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronaldo called Wayne Rooney a “rat”
After tearing into the Owner, Ralf Rangnick and Erik Ten Hag, Ronaldo didn’t stop there as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner responded to his ex-teammate Wayne Rooney, calling him a “Rat.”

On the topic of Money and Fame, Morgan asked, “More pounds in the bank or more Instagram followers?” Ronaldo chuckled and said, “That’s a good question, probably similar.”
Morgan then said, “I’m just trying to work out how Wayne Rooney could hate you even more.”
Ronaldo replied, “Not only him, imagine the rest of the rats, they are going to criticize me too, but it is good to still be the number one.” He also bashed his former teammate for being jealous of him still playing at a high level and for his good looks.
Ronaldo also took a snub at his ex-teammate, Garry Neville, as he explained why he aired him while greeting the Sky Sports pundits before Manchester United played their home game against West ham.

Citing negativity and criticism that Gary Neville has been spreading using his name to be the reason for blanking him while the Red Devil forward greeted Jamie Redknapp and Louis Saha right in front of him.
Wayne Rooney was classy with his response
Wayne Rooney recently attended the Global Soccer Awards in Dubai and responded to Ronaldo’s comments as he catered to the media houses at the entrance. A CNN representative got his question through, asking Rooney for his reaction to Ronaldo’s comments about him in his bewildering interview.
To this Rooney replied, “It’s not criticism. What I’ve said is age comes to all of us, and Cristiano is obviously feeling that and he’s finding it hard to deal with that.”

“Obviously he’s done an interview that’s gone global. Bit strange, some of the comments are strange in there but I’m sure Manchester United will deal with it once they’ve seen the full interview and they’ll take whatever action they need to take.”
Reports state that Manchester United is already looking for ways to terminate the Portuguese’s contract after he decided to give an interview without the club’s knowledge and have it released hours after United’s final Premier League before the World Cup to avoid facing any of the consequences directly.
This indicates Rooney fully backs Manchester United should they terminate Ronaldo’s contract and let him go for free in January but what will happen remains to be a mystery as all the fans and footballers gear up for the World Cup kicking off on 20th November.
