Spanish soccer star Joselu joined as Real Madrid’s new striker ahead of the 2023-24 season. His arrival was important because of Karim Benzema‘s exit from the Spanish Giants. However, not everyone knows that Joselu has an uncanny connection with a Real Madrid star.
As per reports, Joselu’s wife is the twin sister of Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal. While Joselu married Melanie Cañizares back in 2016, Carvajal married her sister Daphne Cañizares last year. The two Spanish stars were recently part of the Spain squad that won the UEFA Nations League 2023. Joselu also scored the winner against Italy in the semifinals of the Nations League.

Joselu talked about his relationship with Dani Carvajal in a press conference recently. He said, “Carvajal hasn’t said too much about it, but you can imagine how excited his wife and my wife are about it. We shared a dressing room 11 or 12 years ago and we had a good relationship then and, obviously, an even closer one now. I hope I can celebrate many successes with him.”
Despite getting married in 2016, Joselu and Melanie Cañizares have been together for more than a decade now. Although Melanie and her sister Daphne were born in Mallorca, they are of Dutch ethnicity. Melanie is a fashion influencer who has a huge fan following on her social media accounts. Meanwhile, her sister Daphne is a flight attendant, a model, as well as the owner of an event management company called Blue Weddings.
Joselu calls Real Madrid “the most important club of his life”
Joselu Mato, Real Madrid’s newest acquisition, appeared in his first official press conference as a Real Madrid player a couple of days ago. The 33-year-old star has arrived on loan from RCD Espanyol who will stay at the club till the end of the next season. In what is his second stint for Los Blancos, he has pledged to give his all for the club.
Joselu joined Real Madrid from Celta Vigo back in 2009 and spent most of his time on the club’s B team. He scored 40 goals in 73 appearances for the B side and even found the back of the net for the senior side. However, he left the club in 2012 when he signed for the German club 1899 Hoffenheim. He went on to play for the Bundesliga side Hannover 96 before he moved to the Premier League in 2015.
He endured unimpressive spells in England playing for teams like Stoke City and Newcastle United. However, he redeemed himself after signing for Alaves when he moved back to Spain in 2019. He went on to play for Espanyol and finished as the third-highest scorer in La Liga last season. Speaking at the press conference, Joselu expressed his delight at playing for Real Madrid.

I’m going to give my all, it’s the most important club in my life. They have taught me values that I’ve never forgotten throughout my career.” As per reports, Joselu will wear the number 14 jersey at Real Madrid.
