The welterweight fighters have already fought each other back in 2019 at UFC 245. In what was an exciting match-up between two of the best welterweights, Usman got the better of Colby Covington, with a stoppage win in the fifth round to defend his UFC welterweight championship. However, Covington did not agree with the stoppage and has since then advocated for a rematch. Now, it looks like he might be finally getting his chance.
Dana White wants Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington 2
Colby is currently ranked #1 in the UFC’s welterweight rankings, it’s safe to say he deserves the title shot. Moreover, UFC president Dana has already given his nod to a rematch.
“The welterweight division is stacked with killers right now. The fight with him and Colby was one of the best, and Colby, love him or hate him, he is one of the best fighters in the world … Colby is next”

Since defending his title belt against Colby Covington, Kamaru Usman has gone on to defend his championship belt three times. While the first time around was a unanimous decision win over Jorge Masvidal, Kamaru Usman got the better of his teammate, Gilbert Burns, earlier this year. Usman maintained the same run as he knocked out Jorge Masvidal to cement his position as one of the most dominant champions in the history of the UFC’s welterweight division.
His manager Ali Abdelaziz is also looking forward to Kamaru’s rematch against Colby. He believes Colby is gonna lose this time as well. However, only time will tell who will get their hand raised when both these fighters square off inside the Octagon once again
