The future of WWE and Vince McMahon’s career has become uncertain after McMahon’s recent controversy of a secret affair with an ex-WWE employee. McMahon paid millions of dollars to shut the former employee from ever discussing anything related to the relationship.
Until the conclusion of the investigation into recent allegations, I am honored to assume the role of interim Chairwoman & CEO. I love @WWE and all it continues to do to entertain billions around the world. https://t.co/E2MushpoSG

There could be a big change in the company’s hierarchy in the not-so-distant future. McMahon voluntarily decided to step down from his executive role, and Stephanie McMahon will be his replacement on a short-term basis.
Vince McMahon temporarily steps down as CEO-Chairman
Vince McMahon has reportedly stepped down as the CEO and Chairman of WWE. Stephanie McMahon will replace him as the interim CEO and Chairwoman of the board. Meanwhile, Vince McMahon will continue his duties as the head of creative. Stephanie will be back in WWE even after announcing a leave of absence last month.
As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.

Many believe that the controversy could result major executive role changes in WWE. But some believe that Vince stepping down as CEO-Chairman may be for a different reason. Alex Sherman from CNBC reported that Stephanie McMahon’s new role is an optics play to notify people that Vince doesn’t want to step down.
Meanwhile, Vince McMahon will retain his role of being in charge of WWE’s creative, and is scheduled to appear on SmackDown tonight. McMahon will be addressing the WWE Universe about his temporary absence in character. He will also be talking to the talents backstage and address them regarding the controversy.
