Alexander Volkanovski is an Australian mixed martial artist, fighting in the Featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) with some fights in the lightweight division. He is a former UFC Featherweight Champion. Volkanovski briefly pursued a career in professional boxing in 2015.
Alexander Volkanovski began his athletic journey in a semi-professional rugby league with Warilla Gorillas in the Group 7 Rugby League. Later, at the age of 23, He decided to leave rugby to pursue a professional career in Mixed Martial Arts during the latter part of 2011. Volkanovski had been an avid follower of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events since his childhood.
Volkanovski currently holds the 3rd spot in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings.
