Diego Armando Maradona was born on October 30, 1960, in Lanus, Argentina. He grew up witnessing hardships as he hailed from a very modest family. Maradona started his professional career in Argentinos Juniors at age 15.
After making people take notes about him in the Argentine division, he moved to Boca Juniors for $4 million. He won the Argentine Primera division in 1981 with Boca.
Maradona finally earned his move to Europe when he signed for Spanish giants FC Barcelona in 1982. He won the Copa Del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup during his time in Catalonia.
