Patrick Mouratoglou, the former coach of Serena Williams has had the front seat to watch Holger Rune’s fine surge in form.
Patrick has watched Rune reach a total of four finals and win two titles including his first Masters in Paris after defeating Novak Djokovic.
Patrick came onto Rune’s team only in October, however, since then he has been making strides in the sport. Patrick took to social media in order to congratulate Rune on his first Master title victory. He tweeted,
“Everything is possible for those who believe in themselves. I feel blessed to be part of your team”
After the match between Holger and Novak ended, Patrick heaped praise on him by saying that he feels that Rune’s top tennis is yet to be seen by everyone and that his coaching team needs to upgrade his average tennis play and ensure that his normal average play is excellent in itself.

Patrick has watched Rune play since his junior days and hence has a good insight into his game early on. Patrick commended Rune’s champion mindset and said that this is what struck him since in his junior days Holger did not stand out from the others. Rune’s determination and self-confidence are what defined his game.
Is Patrick Mouratoglou coaching Holger Rune?
Yes, Patrick Mouratoglou decided to join Holger Rune’s coaching team after the provisional suspension of Simona Halep due to the charges of doping imposed on her. Patrick will be working with the Danish teenager for the rest of the 2022 season and also will coach him in preparation for the 2023 season.
After Patrick joined Holger’s team he said that they both shared a special bond since the day they met. Patrick is aware of Rune’s game and skillset since he was thirteen years old. Holger won his first-ever career title on the clay court at Munich in April.
He also managed to reach the quarterfinals of the French Open in June which was his best-ever Grand Slam appearance, however, he lost out to Casper Rudd who was the eventual runner-up of the tournament. He reached a couple of finals in Sofia and Bulgaria earlier in October.
And now he has finally won his first Masters title in Paris by defeating former World No.1 Novak Djokovic. Holger still has a long way to go in tennis taking into consideration his age. However, under the guidance of Patrick, he can surely learn a thing or two.
