In an exclusive video hosted by Secrets of Wealthy Women Podcast, Veronica Dagher, Maria is posed with the question “How did you handle your money?” to which she opens up about her experiences dealing with finances as she grew up not having a lot of money and was a stranger in managing it.
Diving into the topic, Sharapova quoted “When you grow up not necessarily having a lot or understanding what it takes to work for nothing, I realized that not only it is a personal possession but it’s always your choice with what you do and your actions ultimately determine how far or low it takes you.”
The Russian also further went on to appreciate the efforts put in by her parents which helped shape her personality saying “It’s also being under the influence of really strong characters of parents that every single day taught me something. I would get the life lessons on the court from my father that kind of transitioned onto my character.”
Overall, Sharapova is a successful woman who has amassed a colossal net worth of $180 million with the help of on-court prize money, multiple endorsements, and owning several businesses to her name.
