Over the years, Nick Kyrgios has developed the image of a bad boy in tennis. From smashing rackets to verbal aggression, the 28-year-old loves being in controversies. Despite all the dissensions, one can’t deny the Aussie’s talent and potential to become a top star.
However, when it comes to Costeen Hatzi, Kyrgios is a soft-hearted person. The Aussie sent a heartfelt message to his partner on the occasion of her birthday on May 16. The couple had been dating since 2021 and Hatzi has been spotted a number of times at Kyrgios’ matches supporting him.

“Who you choose to go through this life with is probably the most important decision you make. I’d choose you every time…. Happy birthday to my closest friend, the person who hates me one minute and loves me the next, the best girlfriend, my biggest fan, my love, and a great partner in life. So happy to bring another year of life in with you! I love you,” wrote Kyrgios.
Thus, on the occasion of her birthday, the 28-year-old has also broken a promise that he made to her last year in December. Kyrgios stated last year that he’d be participating in the French Open because Hatzi wants to see Paris. However, the word of honor has been shattered following the Aussie’s withdrawal from Roland Garros..
Nick Kyrgios withdraws from French Open due to knee injury
The 28-year-old has yet to compete in a match this year after he announced that he wouldn’t be participating in the Australian Open following a knee injury. The Australian fans were disheartened, as they wanted to see the home team play at Melbourne Park.
Consequently, another disheartening news has been released that states Nick Kyrgios has officially withdrawn from this year’s French Open. The Aussie went through an arthroscopic procedure in January, and since then, his return has only been delayed. It was expected that he’d make his comeback during the Sunshine Double in March, but that didn’t happen either.
Last year, in December, the 28-year-old stated that he would be competing at Roland Garros in 2023 for his girlfriend. Kyrgios is not a fan of clay-court competitions, as his last French Open appearance took place in 2017.
“Next year I am going to go to Paris. I’m announcing that now, I’m going to the French Open. I haven’t played that in four years so I’ll be back next year. My girlfriend just wants to see Paris. I mean, I’ll play the French Open as well.” He said.
However, the Australian tennis professional won’t be participating in the forthcoming French Open as the possibility of his potential return to the clay-court Major has ceased due to his injury.
