As per Norlaila, Kyrgios was doing a lot of self-harm at one point in his career. Moreover, she said, “The self-harming… I saw that and people told me that. I asked him about it and he didn’t want to talk about it at that time.”
She further revealed the role played by Andy Murray in turning Kyrgios away from that behavior. Norlaila recalled how John, Kyrgios’ manager of that time brought to her attention about her son’s self-harming behavior. John was informed about the same by Andy Murray who was concerned about Kyrgios.

Moreover, she said, “That period was very hard. I just wanted to be next to him constantly so that I could see him… And if I can’t see him I worry about him so much that it becomes very difficult.” However, he eventually got out of it and openly talked about his mental health struggles on various platforms.
As far as Norlaila is concerned, she doesn’t watch her son’s matches and that includes this year’s Wimbledon final. She couldn’t watch the match in the stadium due to health complications. Moreover, she did not even watch the live coverage of the match from Australia as she gets really nervous watching his matches.
