“Always Impressive”- Novak Djokovic Showers Praises on Rafael Nadal After His 21st Grand Slam Win

Post his success at the Australian Open this year, Rafael Nadal has been showered with best wishes and congratulations. 

Among his counterparts and seniors who wished him, one person was the Serbian tennis pro Novak Djokovic. 

Djokovic took to Instagram to wish Rafael Nadal on his 21st Grand Slam title. In a post congratulating all the Australian Open winners of the year, Novak mentioned Ashleigh Barty- Women’s Singles winner, Danielle Rose Collins besides Rafael and runner- up Daniil Medvedev. 

Novak wished Rafael in Spanish too- Enhorabuena which means ‘Congratulations’ in Nadal ‘s native language.

Of the Big Three, Rafael Nadal surpassed Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer to claim a sum of 21 Grand Slam titles during the course of his professional tennis career. Meanwhile, Novak and Roger are still tied at 20 Slam titles each. This makes Nadal the first man to reach 21 Grand Slams in the history of tennis.

Rafael Nadal won the Australian Open 2022 title after beating Russian Medvedev in a five- set thriller match. The intense match went on for about five and a half hours at the Rod Laver Arena today.

Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal is showered with wishes post his ‘Double Successes’

Lauding his determination and performance, Rafael has been receiving compliments after his sweet yet tough victory at the Australian Open final today.

Besides Djokovic, Roger Federer too took to Instagram to express his emotions on the success of  his ‘favourite rival.’

“To my friend and rival. Heartfelt congratulations on becoming the first man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. A few months ago we were joking about both being on crutches,” Federer’s Instagram story said, along with the Nadal ‘s winning face attached.

Roger’s story continued- “Never underestimate a great champion. Your incredible work ethic, dedication and fighting spirit are an inspiration to me and countless others around the world. I am proud to share this era with you and honored to play a role in pushing you to achieve more, as you have done for me for the past 18 years.”

Rod Laver himself were among others to tweet his wishes to the Spanish player.

German player Angelique Kerber too admired Rafael ‘s achievement via Twitter.

 Andy Roddick- retired tennis professional, Stanislas Wawrinka- Swiss player, Chris Evert- retired American player, Diego Schwartzman, Casper Ruud and Simona Halep were few others to commend Rafael Nadal on his accomplishment.
