Iga Swiatek has been off to a good start in the 2024 season. She has won 14 of the 16 matches played this year and has already won a title on the tour. Swiatek has been harnessing her skills on the court now, as she has been on a break for almost two weeks. Her skills on the soccer field during a practice session impressed the fans.
The world No. 1 was seen kicking the soccer ball from quite a distance into the net. Swiatek could not believe she scored a goal and fell to the ground while celebrating her feat. “Bend it like Beckham!” commented a fan after watching the video. One fan thought that Swiatek was a threat to Robert Lewandowski. The fan said, “Count your days,” while tagging Lewandowski.

Another fan mentioned that Swiatek could help Poland qualify for Euro 2024. The fan said, “If Iga makes passes like that one to Lewandoski, Poland is going to the Euro 2024.” It is not the first time Swiatek has shown her talent with the soccer ball. She had teamed up with Carlos Alcaraz during the 2023 US Open and was seen playing soccer on the tennis courts.

Swiatek was last seen at the Dubai Duty-Free Championships and lost in the semifinals of the event. She lost to Anna Kalinskaya in straight sets. The qualifier broke the Polish player’s eight-match winning streak. Kalinskaya was playing against Swiatek for the first time on the tour. The defeat will only further motivate Swiatek to do better this month.
Iga Swiatek is looking forward to entering history books at Indian Wells
After a jam-packed schedule in February, the WTA tour will only see five events take place this month. Players will be getting enough rest between the events. Swiatek will also return to the tour this month, as she will target a few milestones in the coming week at Indian Wells. The WTA 1000 event will start on March 6, as the qualifiers are now taking place.
The 22-year-old will play at Indian Wells for the fourth time after reaching the semifinals last year. Swiatek had won the title in 2022 and had reached the fourth round in her debut in 2021. This year, she will look to be the first player since Victoria Azarenka in 2016 to win more than once at Indian Wells. The event has seen ten different champions since 2013.
The four-time grand slam champion is five wins away from 300 career victories. Swiatek will need to avenge her surprise defeats at Melbourne and Dubai. She has a steady lead in the ranking points and has a 2000-point lead over Aryna Sabalenka. Swiatek will be hoping to achieve multiple records in the coming days.
