Lorenzo Musetti continues to uphold a gesture made popular in the tennis community by Ben Shelton and then continued by Novak Djokovic at the US Open last week. The celebration has gained popularity among men’s athletes and looks like it is currently in style. Musetti celebrated after they defeated Chile at the ATP Davis Cup Finals Group Stage.
Lorenzo Musetti took the decision to celebrate Italy’s victory over Chile at the Unipol Arena in the same manner. At the conclusion of the match point in the conclusion of the doubles, he called right away and hung up his mobile phone, then he hugged and celebrated the victory alongside his partner Lorenzo Sonego and Volandri himself.
Just was getting match point from the Italy Chile doubles match and had a good chuckle, here’s Lorenzo Musetti telling Djoker and Ben Shelton to eat their hearts out with the ‘conversation over’ celly haha love this 📞👇 pic.twitter.com/worSsytlUK

Musetti imitating Ben Shelton’s celebration has received humorous reactions from tennis fans all over the world. One user took to X and commented “Ben’s dad fixin to get big mad” hinting at the Djokovic-Father Shelton controversy.

Others have stated that copying that celebration is pointless and redundant because it has no real significance.
I wish people would try to be more original and stop copying others…its embarrassing for Novak and Musetti to be honest…its like kids at school copying Ronaldo’s celebration… 🤷🏻♂️

One user went as far as to call the trend disgusting. While some fans showed their enthusiasm for the new trend by calling it “pure entertainment.” With the current rate of succession the trend is witnessing, it looks like it may stick around longer than even Ben intended.
Lorenzo Musetti lost to Canada
With a 2-0 victory over Italy to start the Davis Cup Finals group round, Alexis Galarneau and Gabriel Diallo got the defending champion Canada off to a good start. The first singles match featured Galarneau of Laval, Quebec, defeating Lorenzo Sonego 7-6 (8), 6-4. Later, to secure the victory over the hosts, Montreal’s Diallo defeated Lorenzo Musetti 7-5, 6-4.
As a result, Diallo and Galarneau won the first Davis Cup matches of their careers as well as their first matches against players who are ranked in the top 50 of the ATP. Sonego is ranked 38th, while Musetti is ranked 18th in the globe.
Gabriel Diallo had a great week at the @DavisCup in Bologna. He won twice, notably against World No. 18, Lorenzo Musetti 👏

In their encounters with Team Chile during the group round, Team Italy displayed grace. The event’s tone was established by Matteo Arnaldi’s incredible comeback triumph over Christian Garin in the opening round. Afterward, the hosts increased their advantage to a clear 2-0 thanks to Lorenzo Sonego’s grueling victory over Nicolas Jarry.
Sonego showed off his talent by winning again in the doubles competition, teaming up with Lorenzo Musetti to secure the victory for his nation. With a final score of 3-6 7-5 6-4, they made a comeback amid an actual uproar of shouts, erasing four match points.
