The fans and haters are always affected by the outcome of a tennis match. While the players always receive support from the fans after a victory. It is not the same when the results are changed. A few days ago, Linda Noskova was subjected to the crude reality of the haters online. The 18-year-old shared the abuses she received online; in a similar case, Marketa Vondrousova shared the trolls she got at the China Open.
Vondrousova had lost the opening match to Anhelina Kalinina and was called out as a “cheater” online. The 2023 Wimbledon champion posted the screenshots. It looked like a lot of people had lost their money in online betting, and they blamed Vondrousova for their losses.
Marketa Vondrousova posted screenshots of some of the harrassment she’s received after her loss to Anhelina Kalinina today:
“Here we go again.”
Really sad that players have to go through this after basically every loss.

The 24-year-old was the eighth seed at the China Open and had played against Kalinina twice. The pair shared a victory each, and now the Ukrainian has taken the lead. Vondrousova served four double faults in the third set and could only win two points on her second serve. Kalinina won the match 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 in an hour and 46 minutes. Vondrousova might play at the Zhengzhou Open, which will start next week.
Marketa Vondrousova not able to sustain Wimbledon form
So far this year, the world No.8, Vondrousova, has competed in 54 matches and clinched 40 victories. After her Wimbledon win, she participated in four more events. Specifically, she made it to the quarterfinals in both Cincinnati and the US Open. However, Coco Gauff defeated her in the fourth round in Montreal. Meanwhile, at the China Open, she exited early, losing her opening match.
Currently, Vondrousova sits in sixth place for the year-end championships with 3661 points. Yet, Ons Jabeur, who is playing at the China Open, could overtake her as she trails by only 66 points. On another note, four players have already secured their spots for the year-end event. Jessica Pegula is also close to qualifying, boasting a 1000-point lead over Vondrousova.

Looking ahead, the 2019 French Open finalist, Vondrousova, needs to widen her lead like Pegula has managed to do. Otherwise, if she underperforms in her next event, possibly at Zhengzhou, her chances of participating in the year-end championship will fall. Vondrousova must focus on her serve and maintaining consistency on the court. After all, her performance will be the best response to any critics.
