The Williams family moved from Compton to Florida so Serena and Venus could train under player- turned coach, Rick Macci.

Rick has coached players such as Jennifer Capriati, Andy Roddick, Christan Rudd, Maria Sharapova, Venus and Serena Williams, and several others around the globe.
It has been almost 30 years since Rick Macci coached Serena and Venus Williams to greatness. However he maintains a loving and cordial relationship with the Williams sisters. Despite his incredible success and strong work ethic for decades, Macci has never wavered in his love for the sport and coaching.
History will forever remember Macci as the coach of the two greatest female tennis stars in the world. Both the Williams sisters became Grand Slam champions and achieved the No. 1 ranking. Serena captured 23 Grand Slams in singles, while Venus has seven Grand Slam titles in singles.
Rick Macci hopeful for a brilliant Serena Williams Wimbledon Open return
Serena Williams is yet to be back on the court after a hamstring injury which forced her to withdraw from the 2020 US Open. She withdrew from the 2021 Australia Open and is spending most of her time training and rehabilitating.
Williams has not competed in the tennis circuit since Wimbledon 2021. She withdrew from the tournament as she suffered a hamstring injury to her right leg in her first round match. Her hamstring discomfort kept her off the field for months. Serena also had to withdraw from the US Open due to her injury as she did not fully recover.
Winning her last Wimbledon titles in 2016, Serena Williams is set to return to the English Grand Slam this year. She also reached the final in 2018 and 2019 after returning from maternity leave. She last won a Grand Slam singles title at the 2017 Australian Open.

Serena’s return to the tennis court is being celebrated by fans around the world. However there are people who is questioning her return. Deciding too step in, coach Rick Macci defended Serena. He took to Twitter and said, “Everybody is asking how will Serena digest everything at Wimbledon? Remember goats love to eat grass.”
This Wimbledon edition is her best chance of claiming a 24th Grand Slam singles title to equal Margaret Court’s all-time record.
