The woes do not seem to end for Carlos Alcaraz. After crashing out of the Argentina Open, more heartbreak awaited Alcaraz, this time in the form of an injury. Alcaraz badly rolled his ankle just two points into his match against Thiago Monteiro and had to retire, putting a big question mark on his participation in the upcoming tournaments.
Carlos suffered an unfortunate injury as he took on Monteiro. After hitting a forehand, Alcaraz was moving laterally toward the center court when he rolled his ankle. He landed on his back and seemed to be in a lot of pain. Monteiro helped him walk back towards his bench as the physio took a look at his injury.
Carlos returned to the court soon after, his ankle heavily strapped. He played valiantly to break Thiago and take a 1-0 lead, but his movement was compromised.

Carlos Alcaraz’s season has not gone according to plan. He crashed out of the Australian Open in the quarterfinals and then the Argentina Open. Worryingly, titles seem to evade him, and he is in danger of missing the upcoming events.
Can Carlos Alcaraz compete in the upcoming tournaments?
Injuries have plagued Carlos throughout his career, and he suffered yet another setback. Alcaraz will undergo a series of tests to determine the extent of his injury.
“Tomorrow I’ll have a test for my ankle and let’s see if it’s something serious or not. I felt, I felt bad. That was the first impression I had. I mean, I was feeling pain once I fall down, so I thought that it was going to be difficult to continue playing if I was still having those feelings,” said Carlos (via ATP Tour).
Very sad I had to withdraw yesterday after hurting my ankle 😞🙏🏻 We will do some tests to see the extent of the injury. Thank you for the support! Obrigado 🇧🇷 @RioOpenOficial
