SUMMARY
- Aryna Sabalenka has had a positive start to the 2024 season.
- Fans are hoping that Aryna Sabalenka does not fall under the curse after appearing in the Netflix breakpoint series.
Aryna Sabalenka has had the best start to the 2024 season. She has played 12 matches so far and has only lost a single match. Sabalenka has been stealing the limelight off the court as well. She spoke about her childhood dream of winning multiple grand slams on the Netflix documentary “Breakpoint.” The documentary is known for its deep coverage of the tour as well as its infamous curse.
The players who have appeared in the “Breakpoint” series have not been performing their best on the tour. Paula Badosa exited in the third round of this year’s Australian Open. Ons Jabeur was beaten in the second round, just like Jessica Pegula and Maria Sakkari. But Sabalenka defended her title in Melbourne this year without dropping a single set and has now broken the curse.

The Belarusian has been champion twice, runner-up once, and semifinalist three times in the last six grand slams. Sabalenka has so far been the most successful player in the “Breakpoint” series. While other players have been struggling to get back to their form, Sabalenka has been at her peak. Now, the 25-year-old will want to continue her form for the rest of this season.
Aryna Sabalenka on one-slam wonder players
After winning her second grand slam title, Sabalenka is one of the few active players on the WTA tour to win multiple major titles. Currently, she is the fourth player in the top 100 rankings to have won more than one grand slam title. The WTA tour has seen multiple players not be able to secure wins after winning their first grand slam title.
Sabalenka does not want to be a one-slam wonder and now wants to continue winning grand slams. She said, “It’s been in my mind that I didn’t want to be that player who win it and then disappeared,” via The Guardian. The world No. 2 has realized that the emotions stay the same every time after winning a grand slam title. Sabalenka has only lost a single set in her first two grand slam wins.

The 2023 US Open finalist will now be celebrating her milestone win at Melbourne. Sabalenka is now 29 matches away from reaching 400 career wins. She will be taking it step by step in the next 10 months of the tour. Fans will be waiting for her next appearance on the court as there are multiple WTA 1000 events scheduled in February.
