The name, Ajla Tomljanovic gained prominence among the tennis fraternity when she defeated Serena Williams in the third round of the US Open. It was after this match that Serena Williams announced her retirement from the sport, thereby making Ajla popular. Ajla, who was ranked World No. 38 then, had won four singles titles and three doubles titles on the ITF circuit.
Considered to be a heartthrob among fans, Tomljanovic was in a relationship with fellow Australian Nick Kyrgios for two years. Though it was an on-and-off relationship, they dated between 2015 to 2017 and even made it public during the 2016 Australian Open.

Their intimacy escalated to heights when Kyrgios wrote a camera message reading, “Love You Boo” after he emerged victorious against Novak Djokovic at Indian Wells in 2017. Not the one to hide his feelings, Nick Kyrgios even credited Ajla to be the secret of his success. He would go on to say, “I think ultimately that’s what’s helped me the last couple weeks. It kind of took the pressure off me a little bit…”
But, they eventually had to split up in 2017, when Ajla Tomljanovic unfollowed Nick Kyrgios on Instagram when he was seen with female friends at a nightclub. The pair even got to feature in one of Netflix’s docuseries, ‘Break Point’, before speculations regarding their break up started to surface. Berrettini would then confirm in a press meet in June 2022 that, “Yeah, I’m single but it’s not like something that I am looking for…”, thus calling it quits.
