The 2024 WTA season is on a tight schedule, as nine events have occurred in the first month. In February, three events started simultaneously. This season is the only month with two WTA 500 and 1000 events. Players will now be spending almost three weeks in the Middle East. Iga Swiatek, Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff, and other players have arrived in Doha.
The top players on the WTA tour arrived for the Qatar Open in grand fashion. Fans were awestruck to see their favorite players dressed up for the event’s opening day. “Donna chewed them up chi,” commented a fan after seeing Donna Vekic in her red suit at Doha. She was wearing a tennis suit and posted a story about it on her Instagram handle.

One fan admired Swiatek’s dress at Doha and commented, “Classic Iga is my favorite one.” Another fan found Osaka to be the best-dressed player at the party. “Osaka looks the best,” commented the fan of the young stars. But Vekic stole the show amongst her fellow players at Doha.
Swiatek was seen wearing a Magda Butrym FW23 mock neck stretch viscose midi dress with a ruched bodice and back hem slit. Meanwhile, Osaka was seen with a Pleats Please by Issey Miyake “Basics” wide mock neck polyester pleated tank and a Pleats Please polyester pleated midi skirt with a back slit. Fans enjoyed the event’s opening day, as the matches have also begun at Doha.
Iga Swiatek hoping to complete a hat trick at Doha
The Qatar Open has seen the same loss of winners in the past two editions in singles and doubles. Swiatek is the two-time defending champion at Doha. The world No. 1 has only dropped a single set in the last two editions while lifting the trophies. She only played three matches last year, as Swiatek was given a bye in the opening round and received a walkover in the quarterfinals.
The 22-year-old made her debut at the Qatar Open in 2020, where she lost to Svetlana Kuznetsova in the third round. This year, Swiatek has received a bye in the opening round and will face Sloane Stephens or Sorana Cirstea in the third-round match. She could also face Jelena Ostapenko in the quarterfinals, as it will be a tough test on the hardcourts.

Swiatek will have a day to settle in Doha. She has won seven matches this year and lost in the third round of the Australian Open. The Polish player is looking for her first title of the season. Swiatek will be looking to begin her title defense with a thumping win. She has a perfect record at Doha and will be keen on maintaining the winning streak at the event this year.
