Danish tennis star Holger Rune is going through a low phase in his career. His performances have been below par and do not befit the world number four. Consequently, Rune has been subjected to a lot of criticism online, prompting his sister, Alma, to speak up.
The young Dane has had a string of disappointing outings this season. He is out of form, despite practicing hard. Holger has crashed out of most tournaments in the opening few rounds, including the US Open last month.
The world number four has been on the receiving end of much online abuse and hatred recently. Players have spoken about this issue in the past, but neither the ATP nor the WTA have taken measures to counter it. Rune looked out of sorts at the Rolex Shanghai Masters too, where he faced a shocking first-round defeat. Following his loss, Holger’s sister, Alma, took to social media to sound a warning to online abusers.
Holger Rune’s sister, Alma, says she & her family are being threatened online:
“Just to be very clear, threats against me & my family has & will be reported to the police.
And for information, the consequences are not milder because it’s online.
