Harmony Tan became an overnight sensation when she won her first-round match against Serena Williams at Wimbledon. The match went down to the last minute and Harmony emerged at the top in a game that went beyond the three-hour.
After her singles triumph over Serena, Harmony was supposed to pair with Germany’s Tamara Korpatsch for the first round of women’s doubles. However, she felt exhausted after the match and pulled out of the doubles event.

Her decision to not play the doubles match did not bode well with Tamara. Moreover, she said, “I’m very sad, disappointed, and also very angry that I can’t play my first doubles Grand Slam. And it’s really not fair for me. I didn’t deserve that.”
For Tamara, what is even more frustrating is the fact that Harmony approached her to play the doubles event. She said, “She (Harmony) asked me!. If you’re broken after a three-hour match the day before, you can’t play professional. That’s my opinion.”

Tamara played the singles event at Wimbledon and crashed out in the first round itself. She played Britain’s Heather Watson and lost the match 6-7 (7-9), 7-5, 6-2. On the other hand, Harmony had the dream Wimbledon debut as she played on the Centre Court against a legend like Serena Williams and beat her in an intense 3-hour match.
Harmony is yet to respond to the allegations leveled by her doubles partner. She faced Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo in the second round and won the match in straight sets. The French star completely dominated that match as the score read 6-3, 6-4.
