Carlos Alcaraz will soon play his 65th match of the season at the US Open and has only lost in six. He does not slow down in any part of the season. Alcaraz plays at every possible event and instead applies tactics between the events. Most of the players on tour have practice sessions on their rest days between the matches. It is done to keep them ready for the next match.
Alcaraz chooses not to play during his rest days. He spends time on recovery. Alcaraz also does gym training in between but does not step on the court. The Spaniard said that there are days when he focuses on his fitness instead of tennis. He does load training but avoids picking up the racket. It has been done with advice from his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, and his physio, Juanjo Moreno.

Alcaraz won his fourth-round and quarterfinal matches at the US Open without practice sessions. In all matches, he followed the same method at the French Open this year. At Wimbledon, Alcaraz did not touch the racket before the semifinals and even the finals. The recovery method has worried the fans as they want any injury episodes for the young champion.
Carlos Alcaraz clarifies his injury stance at the US Open
In the first three matches, Alcaraz played his usual tennis at the US Open. His sleeveless style rocked his physique at the event, but fans spotted a difference in his attire in the fourth-round match. Alcaraz’s left thigh was strapped during the match, and he had done it for the first time in the event. He had no trouble during the match, covering the court with remarkable ease.
The strappings on the thigh forced the audience to ask questions about any injury he was facing. Alcaraz said, “In a Grand Slam you play for two weeks and the pain comes. I felt that pain the other day in my left leg, but it’s nothing serious.” Alcaraz showed no weakness while defeating Alexander Zverev in straight sets during their quarterfinal match.
The world No.1 will face Daniil Medvedev in his next match. It will repeat their Wimbledon semifinal, where Alcaraz won in straight sets. The pair will meet for the fourth time on tour, as Medvedev has only won one match against Alcaraz. The crowd will be with Alcaraz, away from the court now, whereas the Russian will be busy with his practice session.
