SUMMARY
- The second season of the Netflix documentary Break Point is finally out.
- Daniil broke his silence on his portrayal in the show.
Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev is one of the most polarizing figures within the fraternity. Medvedev is an incredible player with several titles to show for it. However, he is not far from controversies, so much so that even Netflix leaned into this angle in the new season of Break Point.
Break Point is a documentary that follows the top tennis players’ journey as they swing for glory. The first season came out in 2023 and was a huge hit, which earned it an instant renewal. Season 2 came out just ahead of the Australian Open, and it has already stirred a new controversy.
The new season of the documentary shows Medvedev in a negative light. Fans have been very vocal in expressing their disdain for the angle the makers chose to go ahead with. Daniil himself is not too bothered by it though.

In a press conference ahead of the Australian Open, Medvedev weighed in on this issue. Given the chatter among fans, Daniil confessed that he was expecting the documentary to be brought up. He did add that he has no plans of watching it though, since he knows the truth about himself. Furthermore, he added that such things are often exaggerated for viewership.
Daniil’s compatriot, Daria Kasatkina, however, severely criticized Netflix on social media for Daniil’s “villain portrayal.” Kasatkina hoped that children would learn something from a villain for once.
In this story, I wish kids will take a “villain” as an example of a human being. Danya is the best🐻 Netflix sucks btw https://t.co/wUztQ6kDlQ

Daniil Medvedev is a temperamental player and has often engaged in arguments with fans during his matches. However, he did acknowledge that there were a few changes he was hoping to make.
Daniil Medvedev feels he can change
Medvedev has already made it to the finals of the Australian Open once in his career. He will try to outdo his own record, even though it is stacked with other Grand Slam favorites. Irrespective of what happens at the tournament, the Russian star wants to change and do better.
“I want to change, I want to mature. I feel like I’ve done a big step these last months. Hopefully people can see it on the court because that’s the toughest challenge, tournaments,” he said (via Tennis Majors).
