Matteo Berrettini defeated the Frech Tennis Star Gael Monfils in a five-set thriller match to become the first-ever Italian Man to reach the final four stages of the Australian Open. This is a huge moment for both Matteo and also his country Italy, who would definitely be proud of the tennis star.

How the Match Progressed for Matteo Berrettini
Similar to the Rafael Nadal match which happened earlier today, Matteo could see a part of his Semi-Finals fixture when he dominated and won the first two sets of the match against Gael Monfils. However, the French tennis star made an excellent comeback and put Matteo Berrettini in a bit of a squeeze when he won the next two sets in a dominating way.
The match was hence forced to be decided with the fifth set where Matteo Berrettini brought up his mojo had won the match in a redeeming manner, making up for the loss of the third and the fourth set. The match ended with 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6 and a 6-2 win for Matteo and his name would be etched onto the history books for the sake of his motherland, Italy. On Friday, he will compete with one of the best players tennis has ever witnessed, Rafael Nadal.
An important point to note here is that Rafael is extremely strong on hard tracks, however, there are concerns about a potential injury for Nadal which could give the necessary boost for Matteo Berrettini. The issue of unruly fans in the Australian Open doesn’t seem to stop.
Booing and jeering and massive interruptions during the interview were not only faced by Matteo Berrettini but also by Daniil Medvedev after he defeated the fan favourite Nick Kyrgios. Medvedev even went on to call the fans ‘Low IQ Humans’. Even Matteo Berrettini was seemingly irked about the fan behaviour.
