Defending champion Naomi Osaka loses to World No. 60 Amanda Anisimova in the third round of this year’s Australian Open. The Japanese champ was seen shedding tears as she left the tennis court in the shock of an early exit.
Naomi’s match against the American Anisimova ended with figures 6*4, 3-6 and 7-6 with the former losing the final two sets, earlier today.
Osaka had sailed past Camila Osorio of Columbia and Madison Brengle of the USA in the first and second round respectively is straight sets before clashing with Amanda Anisimova in the third round today.
13th seeded Naomi Osaka left the Margaret Court Arena in tears, where her team consoled her after the loss.

While Osaka kicked off the game with confidence and clinched the first set, she could not keep up with her opponent later on. The American Amanda Anisimova stood her ground and levelled up her game to win the second and final set with top- notch brilliance.
Amanda Anisimova is scheduled to play against the Aussie Ashleigh Barty in the fourth round of the Grand Slam, on 23rd January.
